Our vision is a global network that intelligently connects businesses in order to discover the most valuable recycling and up-cycling opportunities. Save money, generate extra profits, create an eco-friendly company profile and contribute to a healthier environment for all of us.

Nowadays, we as humans use about 150% of the resources the world has to offer to us. Obviously, this has to change, and recycling materials in a valuable way is a crucial factor on the road to sustainability. Many business sectors, for example the textile, wood, plastics and construction industry are lacking in that department. As a result, many companies struggle to keep up with increasing demands to environmental performance. Mobius targets this problem and helps companies to increase their competitiveness, also economically.

"One person's waste is another person's treasure."

Our goal is to establish a global internet platform for recycling and up-cycling of secondary materials. Mobius connects companies that want to get rid of secondary materials or by-products with those that can use these materials as a resource to create something new. Together with the newest findings from research and science, Mobius discovers the best connections – from an environmental and economic perspective.

In general, we target any business that produces or handles physical goods and materials. If you want to get rid of something that you consider a waste, you can submit it to the Mobius platform and we will find someone who can use your material as a resource to create something new. This works in both ways. If you are seeking a resource, also you can submit your request to Mobius to find the best connection. Material supply and request submissions are entirely free of charge. Only when a transaction is established, we will take a small percentage for ourselves.

The best thing is, everyone involved profits, and by doing so we all support a more efficient use of our precious resources and a healthier environment.

It's very simple:

Go to the become a user section. Submit a material offer or seek after a certain resource ... or do both. That's it!

From here on, we will take care of the rest. Regardless if you are offering a material or seeking a resource,
we will find the most valuable recycling connection between you and the other user.
Once we found it, we make you an offer.

Benedikt Neyses – Founder

Why do we do things in a certain way? Is it the best way do to something? Can we do better? How? These questions circle around in my head all the time and they are an essential part of my personality and the main driver for this project. Apart from that, I love being in nature and it always makes me both a bit sad and angry when people leave their waste behind, even though cleaning up after oneself only takes a few seconds.

I have a B.Eng. degree in mechanical engineering, a M.Sc. degree in wood technology, and have completed courses in Environmental Problem Solving and Innovation Management. Currently, my main occupation is doing research as a PhD candidate in wood science at Luleå University of Technology (LTU). The department of Wood Science and Engineering at LTU supports the development of Mobius.

Emilia Markström – Research Partner

We are currently putting a lot of pressure on our beautiful planet by over-exploiting the natural resources and emitting vast amounts of greenhouse gases. In order to change this, moving towards a circular economy is vital. An increasing number of actors are realising this and I believe that the market is now starting to be ready to embrace concepts such as Mobius, which will benefit its users and above all contribute to a more sustainable use of our resources.

I have a M.Sc. in energy and environmental technology, and have experience in evaluating potentials for exchanges of resources between industries, techno-economic assessments, and different tools for evaluating environmental impact. Currently, I am a PhD student, 50/50 at Luleå University of Technology and RISE Research Institutes of Sweden.

ABI – Business support

ABI is supporting us in all things related to business development. They are Sweden's northernmost business incubator, operating from Skellefteå in the south to Kiruna in the north — an area that spans 20 municipalities, 300 000 inhabitants and 20% of Sweden's landmass. With over 10 years of experience as one of Sweden's top 10 incubators (Vinnova Excellence), their team combines strong expertise covering all areas of business development.

RISE Skellefteå is partnering with Mobius and Linköping University for a joint application of the Vinnova Circular Economy Funding call. The RISE institutes Innventia, SP, and Swedish ICT have merged in order to become a stronger research and innovation partner. Through international collaboration programmes with academia, industry, and the public sector, they ensure the competitiveness of the Swedish business community on an international level and contribute to a sustainable society.

LiU – Research SUPPORT

LiU is partnering with Mobius and RISE for a joint application of the Vinnova Circular Economy Funding call. The unit for Environmental Technology and Management (ETM) has a long experience in research on waste and resource issues. Increasingly, the research has addressed opportunities for developing a more circular economy via recycling of materials in different contexts, remanufacturing, and resource exchanges between different industries.
